Thursday-NO practice (pool is reserved for another function)

Friday- morning practice at Mark Trail: 7-10 year olds 8:30-9:30; 6&under 9:30-10; 11&up 10-11

Week of 5/28

Thursday-morning practice at Mark Trail, evening practice at Princeton Square

Friday- morning practice at Mark Trail

PRACTICE THE MORNING AFTER A MEET

On Wednesdays after a meet (not the practice meet) we have “fun” practice. We give out ribbons and donuts, and the kids get free play time. All kids 10 and younger are from 9-10AM and 11&up are 10-11AM.

RSVP FOR MEETS

The deadline to RSVP for the first real meet (5/29 at Mark Trail is this Tuesday (always 1 week prior) Please make sure to RSVP only if you will NOT be at the meet. Entering kids in a meet is a huge puzzle, and when one piece is taken out, it is very difficult to complete the puzzle…especially when the puzzle is already done. J Thanks in advance.

COACH JULIE'S NUMBER

If you don't have it already, please store my number in your phone: 770-289-6626.

VOLUNTEERS

We are currently short a few volunteers for the practice meet on Tuesday. If you can help, please to to the website (mtps.swimtopia.com), click on “calendar” and then “job signup”. We really can’t run a meet without a lot of parents to help out. Thanks!

We currently need:

2 for 9&up bullpen

1 for computer operator

1 for Deck staging manager

2 for floater

1 for Meet Host

4 for timer

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A MEET/WHAT TO BRING

For the practice meet, we will do each of the strokes (25's for 10&under and 50's for 11&up) in the order they occur in a normal meet: free, back, breast, fly. We will not do relays or the longer events. If a child doesn't know how to do one of the strokes, he/she will not be entered in that stroke. Everyone will do freestyle, starting with 6&under girls and going up to 15-18 boys, and then everyone will do backstroke, etc. I expect to have the meet finished by 7:30.

At a normal meet, swimmers are allowed to do a maximum of 4 events, 2 individual and 2 relays. I do my best to get everyone in 4 events at every meet, although sometimes I cannot get 2 relays for everyone if there is an odd number of kids at the meet.

I recommend bringing multiple towels to a meet, warm clothes (as it can get cool at night), a water bottle, and everything you need to swim. We do have concessions at every meet as well (cash only). Regular meets do last until about 9ish, and the free relay for all kids 7 and older is the last event. Please be prepared to be there until about 9 or so. For 6&unders, their events will be done in the first half of the meet, so they will be finished earlier.

After meets this year, all are invited to Abuelos at 6631 Roswell Road (Publix shopping center at Abernathy and Roswell Roads). Each family pays for their own food and drinks.

EMAILING COACH JULIE

I will always respond to you, even if it's just to say "thanks", so if you send me an email and don't get a response, please resend! Just want to make sure we don’t have an email go “missing”. Thanks!

CLINICS AFTER PRACTICES

After morning practice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, we have optional clinics for any swimmers to work on starts, strokes, etc. It is $5 per swimmer and limited to 5 swimmers per clinic. There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board at Mark Trail at the beginning of each week with exactly what the clinics will be each day. After the clinic, please give the $5 to the coach who taught the clinic. We will begin with clinics on Wednesday, 5/30.

Here is the final list of who I have as being out of the practice meet (juniors included). If your child is not on this list, he/she is entered in the meet. Please let me know ASAP if your child is sick and will not be there Tuesday night.
