PLEA FROM THE COACHES
With this being our last full week, we are pleading with you to come to morning practice if at all possible. We’ve seen huge improvements from so many kids, and the ones that come in the morning seem to be improving faster with all of the strokes (time and technique). We have many babysitters/nannies bring kids in the morning, so please know that that is totally fine to send your kids with a babysitter. We know that many of you have camps and cannot attend in the morning, but we are begging those of you that can, to please come in the morning. Thanks in advance!
VOLUNTEERS
We are currently short a few volunteers for the meet on Tuesday. If you can help, please go to the website (mtps.swimtopia.com), click on “calendar” and then “job signup”. We really can’t run a meet without a lot of parents to help out. Thanks!
ASA CHAMPIONSHIPS
We will attend the ASA Championship Meet again this year (where we won a trophy 2 of the past 3 years!). Here is how it works...to swim in the meet, it is $20 per swimmer (a great deal to get to swim at the Olympic pool at Georgia Tech!). Swimmers get to swim in 2 individual events and 2 relays (just like a normal meet). Our divisional championship (all the teams in our "region") is on Thursday, June 28, from 9AM-1PM. The top 10 relays and the top 40 individuals (10&under) and the top 30 (11&up) in each event make it to the Championship Final, which is on Saturday, June 30, 11-2 for 10&unders and 4-7:30 for 11&ups. I'm hoping we have a large group go like we did the last 3 years! We had 68 attend last year, and I'd love to have even more! I need your form (attached) and $20 by Wednesday, June 20 if you are going to attend the meet. For those that want to participate in the state qualifying meet, we will use the divisional championship on Thursday, June 28, as the state qualifying meet. The state meet is later in July, and the Sandy Springs team will have practice somewhere in the area leading up to the meet.
Those that have already paid (with registration or turned in form/money) are listed below. If I’m missing anything from you, it is noted next to your name.
Wally Christman (will you come to finals if you make it and do you want to try to qualify for state?)
Sarah Eaves (need form)
Libby and Tommy Homans
Hunter Reese Giardino (need form)
James and Leo Roden (need form)
Abby Simon (do you want to try to qualify for the Sandy Springs state team?)
Sydney Smith (need form)
Kate Zaparaniuk (will you come to finals if you make it and do you want to try to qualify for state?)
TEAM PARTY
I wanted to make sure everyone has the date on their calendar. The team party is June 28 (night of the championship meet). More details to come, but put it on your calendars now!
NOTE FOR PARENTS
KAT, KERI, ASHLEY: PLEASE DON’T READ: As a thank you to the Team Parent Managers, who put countless hours into the swim team starting in January and February to ensure our kids have an awesome summer swim experience, we always collect donations from the team and give them a thank you at the party. It is mainly cash, with a small gift.
Jennifer Lott and I have agreed to collect this year. You can either give cash to myself or Jenn at swim practices, venmo myself or Jenn, or send via paypal to me at [email protected]
My VENMO account is @Paige-Zaparaniuk (the picture is a selfie of myself and my black lab)
Jenn’s Venmo account is @Jennifer-Lott-3 (the picture is of her sweet Kate)
My cell is 404-606-2537. You can email/text with questions. Please have money to me by Monday, June 25th so I have a few days to get their gift compiled!
Thank you!! Paige
Thanks!
Coach Julie
