Another wavemaker win! And important info!

Hey Wavemakers!

Great win last night! The final score was Wavemakers 430 to Hammerheads 354! Lots of improvement, lots of cheering, and lots of great swims. Two of the Hammond Hills parents were talking behind me, not knowing I was the coach, and they were talking about how we had so many really good swimmers on our team! J

ASA MEET AT TECH

Here is the blurb I’ve been sending out with all the info, and also a list of kids (if I’m missing something I put it) and numbers by age group. I have extended the deadline until tomorrow at 3PM to email or give me the form. I would love to have enough so every kid could swim relays! You can pay by cash, check, or by credit card on the website (click on “shop”).

We will attend the ASA Championship Meet again this year (where we won a trophy 2 of the past 3 years!). Here is how it works...to swim in the meet, it is $20 per swimmer (a great deal to get to swim at the Olympic pool at Georgia Tech!). Swimmers get to swim in 2 individual events and 2 relays (just like a normal meet). Our divisional championship (all the teams in our "region") is on Thursday, June 28, from 9AM-1PM. The top 10 relays and the top 40 individuals (10&under) and the top 30 (11&up) in each event make it to the Championship Final, which is on Saturday, June 30, 11-2 for 10&unders and 4-7:30 for 11&ups. I'm hoping we have a large group go like we did the last 3 years! We had 68 attend last year, and I'd love to have even more For those that want to participate in the state qualifying meet, we will use the divisional championship on Thursday, June 28, as the state qualifying meet. The state meet is later in July, and the Sandy Springs team will have practice somewhere in the area leading up to the meet.

RESULTS

What a meet last night! Lots of close races, and lots of Wavemaker wins! Again we had not one swimmer forget to tell me they weren’t coming and only 1 swimmer who got sick and couldn’t come…great job parents! Let’s make it 5 for 5 this year with our last meet! I’m attaching the full results for you to see all times and places.

ATLANTA SWIM ACADEMY TRYOUTS

I’m attaching the flyer from Atlanta Swim Academy with their try-out dates again. The coach just sent it to me and asked me to pass it on. Lots of our kids swim there, so if you have questions, I can direct you to a family that goes there!

STATE MEET INFO

For those trying out for the state team (at the meet next Thursday), here is a note from the parent running the state team, and the list of kids who qualify will be sent out after the Tech meet ends (the entire meet, not just our session).

We will have practices at Hammond Hills in Sandy Springs starting the first week of July. (after the 4th, most likely try to have it start on the 5th). All practices will be from 8 to 10 with ages split up and forthcoming. Coaches will be State Qualifier and swimmer in the Top 10 Steven Jackson who will be attending NC State in the Fall to study Engineering. Coming back will be State Qualifier Maria Jackson who is entering in the fall her 4th year at the University of Toronto where she has been studying Kinesiology.

We will need for ALL swimmers to provide a Birth Certificate within the first 5 days of practice. Also, the registration form is attached.

Thanks!

Coach Julie
