SOCIAL EVENT

We are planning a social event after practices on Tuesday, probably at Yogli Mogli for anyone who would like to join (each family pays for themselves).  Details to come.

MORNING VS EVENING PRACTICES

Thank you SO much for the past week! We had the majority of our kids come in the morning and only a few in the evening, which is perfect and what we want! Please keep it up! We know that some of you will have camps certain weeks and need to come in the afternoon, but please keep coming in the morning if you can!

RSVP FOR MEET

The deadline to RSVP for the 3rd meet is this Tuesday (always 1 week prior). Please make sure to RSVP only if you will NOT be at the meet. Entering kids in a meet is a huge puzzle, and when one piece is taken out, it is very difficult to complete the puzzle…especially when the puzzle is already done. Thanks in advance.

VOLUNTEERS

We are currently short volunteers for the meet on Tuesday. If you can help, please go to the website (mtps.swimtopia.com), click on “calendar” and then “job signup”. We really can’t run a meet without a lot of parents to help out. Thanks!

AFTER MEET GET TOGETHER

After meets this year we will go to El Azteca in the Lowe’s parking lot on Roswell Road (we’re asking them to do separate checks this week!). All are invited and each family pays for their own food and drinks.

TEAM PICTURES

Please save the date for team pictures: Wednesday, June 19. 5:30 at Princeton Square. Please wear your team suit and shirt (they’ll be in by then). Practice will start a little later than normal, but we will still run all 3 practices for those that are staying for practice. We will do a team picture and also individual pictures for those that would like individual pictures.

CLINICS AFTER PRACTICES

After morning practice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, we have optional clinics for any swimmers to work on starts, strokes, etc. It is $5 per swimmer and limited to 5 swimmers per clinic. There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board at Mark Trail at the beginning of each week with exactly what the clinics will be each day. After the clinic, please give the $5 to the coach who taught the clinic. We will begin with clinics on Wednesday, 5/29.

WANT TO PURCHASE TEAM SWAG?

Anyone interested in ordering team swag please contact Ashley Giardino (email: [email protected] phone: 770-265-3393)

SWIMMER'S EAR

At this time last year, we had a few swimmers get swimmers' ear, and I want to try to avoid it this year. There are some things you can do to avoid getting swimmer's ear. First, encourage your kids to dry their ears (the outside) when done swimming and tip their heads to the side to drain any water still in their ears. There are drops that you can use to dry up any remaining water as well. There are natural mixtures you can use (just google it) and also drops you can buy at the store.

SWIM-A-THON

Come and Join the Wavemakers for their first SWIM-A-THON! The SWIM-A-THON will be held on June 20 during the morning practice starting at 8:30 am (come to your normal practice time). To participate, you can either pay a flat fee of $10, or have people donate per lap. The money goes to the Ronald McDonald House, a non-profit organization that gives families child a place to live while their child is in the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House is run off of volunteers and donations, so the Wavemakers hope to make a difference. We hope you can join us on June 20! We are also collecting items at that time to help the Ronald McDonald House. Items that are needed include: plastic utensils, paper towels, napkins, liquid hand soap, disinfectant sprays and wipes, laundry and dish detergent, and hand sanitizer. There will be a box at the pool to collect the items. If you have any questions and to RSVP, please contact Shea Griffith at [email protected].

11&OLDER BUDDY PROGRAM

Buddies have been assigned! We introduced the buddies to each other if they were there this morning. If not, we will do it as soon as both are there in the morning (or at the meet Tuesday). As announced to the kids yesterday, we would like for the older buddy to bring a small treat for the 6&u to the meet on Tuesday (think dollar store, and needs to be a max of $5...nothing fancy, more like $1, small treat!). Thanks!

ASA CHAMPIONSHIPS

We will attend the ASA Championship Meet again this year (where we won a trophy 2 of the past 3 years!). Here is how it works...to swim in the meet, it is $20 per swimmer (a great deal to get to swim at the Olympic pool at Georgia Tech!). Swimmers get to swim in 2 individual events and 2 relays (just like a normal meet). Our divisional championship (all the teams in our "region") is on Wednesday, June 26, from 3PM-6PM. The top 10 relays and the top 40 individuals (10&under) and the top 30 (11&up) in each event make it to the Championship Final, which is on Saturday, June 29, 11-2 for 10&unders and 4-7:30 for 11&ups. You DO NOT have to be able to attend finals to attend on Wednesday. I'm hoping we have a large group go like we did the last few years! We had over 60 attend last year, and I'd love to have even more! I need your form (attached) and $20 by Wednesday, June 19 if you are going to attend the meet. For those that want to participate in the state qualifying meet, we will use the divisional championship on Wednesday, June 26, as the state qualifying meet. The state meet is July 19 for 10&unders and July 20 for 11&ups, and the Sandy Springs team will have practice somewhere in the area leading up to the meet.

Some of you already paid for this with your registration and are listed below. I will just need your form by June 19:
