Tech meet info-please read if you're going

Hi guys!

Here is all of the info for the meet for those attending (over 50 of you!).  It's long, and a few things are new this year (parking especially), so please read it all!  The psych sheet was released this morning, and it's attached if you'd like to see it.  Please let me know if you have any questions, and if you haven't saved my number in your phone, please do so in case you need to contact me the day of: 770-289-6626.

Thanks!

Coach Julie

ASA CHAMPIONSHIP MEET INFO

VOLUNTEERS-

We have been assigned 2 timers for the girls’ pool and 2 timers for the boys’ pool. The shifts will be 2:30-4:30 and 4:30-end of meet. Please email me if you can volunteer, and with what shift you prefer. There is a girls’ pool and a boys’ pool, so you can see your swimmer’s races if you time in the pool where your child will swim. Parents are not allowed on deck during the meet unless you are working, so this is a great way to get to be in the middle of the action! Thanks!

WARM-UPS/TEAM ARRIVAL

We rotated to 2nd warm-ups this year! Please arrive by 1:40, plan for traffic. We will warm-up and then write on kids’ arms. The good news is that the kids get to sit on deck again and not up in the stands! When you arrive, we will have coaches waiting upstairs to walk kids down in groups (until 1:40). If you don't see one of us, hang out in hall for a minute, and one of us will be there to gather the troops. For those attending for the first time, parents sit up in the stands, and the coaches stay with the kids on the pool deck.

PRACTICES

As mentioned before, we will have Tuesday morning practice for the kids going to the meet, but the time will change slightly. All 10&unders (including 6&under) will be 9-10AM and all 11&ups will be 10-11 like normal.

For those who make finals, we will have practice Thursday and Friday morning. Everyone will practice from 9-10, as it won’t be a huge number of kids since many are going out of town.

HOW DO WE KNOW WHO MAKES FINALS?

There will be a running list on the league website: atlantaswimming.org (go to “swim leagues”, Atlanta Swim Association, and then “championship”), and I will keep emailing updates as well. We are the 2nd session, and there are 4 sessions after ours, so we'll have to keep watching. The top 10 relays make it back and the top 40 (10&under) individuals/top 30 (11&up) individuals.

MEET INFO

The meet starts at 3 with the 6&u free relays and all medley relays, then 6&under free, all free relays, 6&under back, and then the rest of the individual events for 7&up. So 6&unders will be done earlier than the rest. There will be 2 pools going on at the same time. All girls will be in one pool and all boys will be in the other pool. Click here to see the page where the league has general meet info, a seating chart, map to the pool and surrounding area, and where the results will be posted.

Parking-note from the league

You can save a little money if you prepay for your parking and get your pass in advance, please visit the following link https://gatech.parkmobile.io/events. Due to construction around campus please try to carpool to alleviate congestion.

Parking is a little different this year. Only prepaid parking will be allowed in the decks closest to the pool, so buy your parking NOW. If you do not pay in advance you will have to park in the lot located farther away from the pool and it will cost your more money.

Please only buy the day you need and make sure you select the correct day (Day 1 is Wednesday, Day 2 is Thursday, Day 3 is Friday, Day 4 is Saturday). The cost for the advance passes is $12. If you do not prepay for parking you will have to park farther away and pay more ($15 cash) to park.

Only prepaid ($12) parking will be allowed in the parking lots adjacent to the Campus Recreation Center (Lot W10) and the Student Center Lot (Lot W2) across the street. If you do not get reserved parking you will have pay more ($15) to park at the State Street (Lot W23) lot a little further away from the facility. To purchase prepaid parking for $12 per day go to https://gatech.parkmobile.io/events .

A map of the parking areas can be found at the following link

GT Parking Diagram please be sure to share this info with your teams. A map to the area around the Aquatic Center can be found at :

SERVICE PROJECTS AT THE MEET-NEW THIS YEAR

"Good Luck Ducks" will be for sale at all sessions of the ASA Championship Meet. Stop by the Swim Across America table and write a good luck note to your swimmer. This is a fun way for swimmers to encourage one another as well. Notes will be attached to ducks and delivered to the team's ribbon box for teams to pick up and distribute during the meet.

Minimum donation is $3 per duck or 2 ducks for $5.

All donations go directly to support childhood cancer research at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Should you have any questions please contact Nicole Schwartz at [email protected]

SOCK DONATIONS:

Georgia Tech has approached the league about our upcoming championship meet and asked us to pass along some info about a great program during our meet to help the local homeless community. There will be donation bins on site at the pool throughout our upcoming ASA Divisionals and Championships collecting new pairs of socks and toiletry products.

Please pass along details about this to your team members. Our goal is to get 1000 pairs of socks throughout the week. That seems like a lot of feet to cover, but I think we can make this happen. As always thanks for all of your good work and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
