Wavemakers weekly, 6/23

Hi Wavemakers!

I can’t believe this is the last week of the season! It has truly flown by. I am so impressed with how much your kids have improved over a short few weeks! Here is a great article about summer league swimming and what all the fuss is about. If you haven’t seen it or read it, I highly recommend it!  Also, we swam Georgetown last year in our first meet and lost by 35, so it should be a close meet tomorrow night!!

SCHEDULE

Week of 6/24

We have a little bit of a funky schedule this week, so it is outlined below. Please take note that there is no ribbons and donuts practice after the meet. Swimmers will get ribbons at the party on Thursday.

Monday- morning practice at Mark Trail/ meet at Georgetown (1465 Old Spring House Ln). Arrive by 4:45

Tuesday- morning practice only for those swimming in the meet at Tech (10&under are 9-10AM, 11&up are 10-11AM)

Wednesday- Championship Meet at Tech-3PM; arrive by 1:40

Thursday- morning practice for those making finals (9-10AM); team party 6-8PM at Mark Trail

Friday- morning practice for those making finals (9-10AM)

Saturday- Championship finals for those that make it (top 40 individual 10&under, top 30 individual 11&up, top 10 relays)-10&unders start at 11AM and 11&ups start at 4PM

SWIM-A-THON

Congratulations again to Shea Griffith for organizing an amazing event this week and helping the team to raise what is now over $1500 for the Ronald McDonald house!

NOTE FROM GEORGETOWN

We will leave the parking lot open for your families, though it is not a huge parking lot. We only allow parking on the right side of the driveway leading into the pool area—that will be marked. Additionally we ask that families park only on the south side of Old Springhouse Lane and on the grass along Old Georgetown Trail to allow for emergency vehicle access. We will have this all clearly marked.

AFTER THE MEET

We're going to do something a little different for this last meet.  There is a Bruster's nearby the pool, and we thought it would be fun to try this as each family can order when they get there and then hangout as long (or as little) as they want!  The address is 5503 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are still in need of MANY volunteers for the meet on Monday night. Please go to the site (mtps.swimtopia.com), click on "calendar", and then "job signup" if you can help. If you have already worked your required number of shifts but are willing to help, I would greatly appreciate it!!

GRADUATING SWIMMERS RECOGNIZED AT MEET

We will recognize our graduating swimmers: Coach Grace Grider and James Roden (Charley Plumly also graduated but has already left for the Naval Academy!) as well as the other team’s before the free relays on Monday. Also, unless it will affect the outcome of the meet, the 15-18 free relay will be a fun/silly t-shirt relay. Just fyi!

TEAM PARTY

Wavemakers end of year party It is hard to believe the season is almost over. The end of the year party will be on June 27 from 6-8PM at Mark Trail.
