ASA Champs at Ga Tech
Please read if you are attending the GA Tech meet next Wednesday:
I’m excited to have 28 swimmers at the meet on Wednesday, June 23! I get 2-4 emails a day from the league with information, so I have summarized everything here, but please know that I will probably get more/new info in the coming days. We have a mandatory coach meeting this weekend as well, so I will send any updates after that.
- Wednesday, June 23
- Team arrival-7:00AM-we will meet outside the Aquatic Center
- We have 1st warm ups, start at 7:30
- Meet start-9AM (relays are first)
- Here is the psych sheet https://files.ctctusercontent.com/cffa1283101/90420f7e-9f58-4610-b3c1-815e54f7e09b.pdf?rdr=true
Logistics:
- Parking-the league has not received details from Tech yet. We will have to pay for parking.
- All swimmers should arrive already in their suits
- Ga Tech suggests that all unvaccinated individuals (including swimmers) wear masks
- We are not allowed very many parents in the building, so we will collect all swimmers outside and go in together (per league guidelines). This makes it very important that you arrive on time.
- Swimmers, coaches, and few parents will be seated in the stands (not on deck)
- Coaches will bring kids to the deck for their races and collect them on deck after the race to return to team area in stands
Parents- unfortunately, all parents cannot enter the building this year, only a few. Here is what I’m thinking, and I’ve spoken to other coaches to brainstorm as well:
- We can have a few parents with us in the building. We have 20 families sending swimmers, and we can have 6-8 parents enter the building (I will find out for sure soon). I assume some of the older kids’ parents are not planning to attend, but please let me know ASAP if you (the parent) are NOT planning to go to Tech. This means you are sending your swimmer with someone else or they are driving themselves.
- For those of you going to Tech but not able to enter the building, you will have the option to leave and come back at a certain time (meet is estimated to be 3.5-4 hours) or to hang out outside the aquatic center.
- I know this is far from ideal, and no one wants it to be this way, but hopefully this is the only year we have to do it!
FROM THE LEAGUE—
SPIRITWEAR
ASA is proud to continue our partnership with Fine Designs Apparel. They will be providing ASA Championship t shirts and a much broader line of specially designed items for this year’s big meet. This will be a much broader offering than we have had in years past, so we hope you will support their offerings. They will be setting up an online shop for this year’s meet, and you can get a look at all of the products they have to offer. The link for the online store is https://store.finedesigns.com/southerngreatlakes/... This is a great addition as it allows everyone on your team to purchase souvenirs from the meet, even if they can’t make the big meet, or they can make purchases even after the meet.
PHOTOGRAPHY INFO:
Wonder how you will capture the final swim of your Seniors or your swimmers first splash at the 1996 Olympic Pool?
The victorious smile and fist pump of a best time or winning a race?
River Oak Photography will be at the meet to capture it all....but only if you Pre Register! (due to COVID-19, there will be no reservations/sales during the competition!)
