Update: ASA Champs at Ga Tech

Please read if you are attending Ga Tech this week:

We just had our coaches meeting for the meet at Tech (all almost 2 hours of it!). I am well versed in traffic flow, credentials, etc., and am summarizing for you all here. Please please please ask any questions that you have in advance!

As a reminder, we are meeting on Wednesday, at 7AM, outside the aquatic center (750 Ferst Dr). Park in deck to the right of the aquatic center (when looking at the building).

  1. Text me so I have your number in my phone and can communicate when your child is done
  2. Swimmers must come in swim suit
  3. All swimmers will use the bathroom on the pool level; Adults use upstairs bathrooms
  4. Masks are highly recommended for any unvaccinated adults and swimmers
  5. We will temp check everyone upon arrival, outside the aquatic center
  6. There will be free parking next to aquatic center if you arrive on time
  7. If you are taking your child home when they are done swimming, let me know so we can plan to hand them off to you outside.
  8. Here is a map of the facility. Our assigned section is 207, rows E, F, G, H
  9. Small coolers are allowed (must fit under a seat); there will be no concessions
  10. Lanes are 0 to 9 (not 1-10)
  11. It will be live streamed and links are already on ASA website, scroll down and they’re on the right
  12. We will get heat sheets in advance for any and all to print in advance—I will email when they’re available.
  13. 1st-3rd in relays will get medals, 1st-10th individuals get medals; ribbons go to 30th place

CREDENTIALS

The credentials are wristbands, and I pick them up tomorrow. The league is saying it will be hard to share them as you can’t take them on and off…but I think we can as long as we make them loose enough to slip off! Here is the plan:

All names listed are for 1 person from that family (not the entire family)

Timers: Busch and Sveda

Parent helpers: Giardino, Wolk

Parent helpers sharing a pass—these parents will share a loosely fitted wristband. I paired you with someone from a different age group as best I could. You may miss a relay, but all will be able to see your kid race for most of their races. You may not be able to wait to talk to your kid after each race, depending on what your partner’s kid is swimming. I know this isn’t ideal, but it’s the best we can do this year given the requirements of the facility. We will make sure you know each other when we meet outside at 7 and you can compare events, if not done prior.

Shilling with Campbell

Bondell with Jones

Zimmerman with Linehan

Bell with Yadav

They are saying not to plan on hanging out on the lawn outside the aquatic center, but we will find a good meeting place for parents to wait when they are not in the facility. There are some benches we could use.

Again, please let me know any questions that you have!

Go Wavemakers!
