Wavemakers Weekly, 5/7

Hi all,

It's here! I can't believe we start practice on Monday! We are still taking new registrations, so if you have friends who want to join, or if you haven't registered yet, all are welcome to.  I will only send these emails to currently registered families starting next week.  Here is important info as we get started. Please let me know if you have any questions!  Also, please see note from the league about a triathlon opportunity at the bottom.

In this email:

  • Volunteer needed
  • Schedule
  • What to bring to practice
  • Junior Team
  • Time Trials Date
  • Swim suit ordering update
  • Practices/Coaching/Weather
  • Meet RSVP info
  • Coach Julie's cell phone number

VOLUNTEER NEEDED

We are supposed to pick up our ribbons for the season this coming Wednesday (5/11) at 4 or later, at Marist.  I will be at the pool for practice, but is there a parent that could do this while your kids are at practice?  If you can do it, please email me and I'll give you the details. Thanks in advance!

SCHEDULE NEXT 2 WEEKS

THIS WEEK, WEEK OF 5/9

We have practice next Monday-Thursday at the Mark Trail pool (210 Seville Chase). We will test the water temp each day, and if it is too cold, we will do dry land exercises. Have your child bring/wear tennis shoes just in case.

  • Ages 6&under: Mon - Thurs from 5:00 pm – 5:25 pm
  • Ages 7 to 10: Mon - Thurs from 5:30 pm – 6:10 pm
  • Ages 11 & older: Mon – Thurs from 6:15 pm – 7:00 pm

NEXT WEEK, WEEK OF 5/16

Practice Monday-Wednesday at Mark Trail.  We will have a parent meeting at 6PM on Tuesday, 5/17.  There is a graduation party in the cul-de-sac on Thursday, 5/19, so we will NOT have practice on 5/19.

  • Ages 6&under: Mon - Thurs from 5:00 pm – 5:25 pm
  • Ages 7 to 10: Mon - Thurs from 5:30 pm – 6:10 pm
  • Ages 11 & older: Mon – Thurs from 6:15 pm – 7:00 pm

WHAT TO BRING TO PRACTICE

Your child should wear their swim suit (does not have to be the team suit, but should be a suit that is appropriate for swimming laps-not a bikini ;). They should bring a towel, running shoes (for the first week or 2), goggles, a swim cap if they like to wear one, and a water bottle (especially for the 11&ups).

JUNIORS TEAM

We have the juniors team for kids 6 or younger who are not ready to swim the length of the pool by themselves yet.  These swimmers come at the same time as the regular 6&unders for practice.  The only difference with this group is that they will not participate in meets until they're ready.

TIME TRIALS

We will time the swimmers at their regular practice time on Wednesday, May 25.  You do not need to RSVP for this on the site, but I wanted to let everyone know we are doing it so you could make sure you are there that night if at all possible.

SWIM SUIT ORDERING UPDATE

If you need a team suit, you can still purchase it here, ours is black and red: http://store.swimshop1.com/mark-trailprinceton-squ...

PRACTICES/COACHING/WEATHER

I am happy to talk to all parents before or after practice, but during practice I really need my focus to be on the kids that are in the water.  I’m sorry if this sounds harsh, it isn’t meant to, I just want everyone to be aware.  There are a few minutes in between each practice for this reason. Thanks! Also, with the crazy weather that comes in May in Georgia, I want to go ahead and give you info about how we deal with bad weather. We only cancel practice if it is thundering and/or if it’s raining so hard that you can’t see the bottom of the pool. However, we will rarely, if ever, cancel practice in advance as it has to be doing it at the time of practice for us not to get in.

MEET RSVP

If you will miss a meet, you will declare this on the website. Click on the "calendar" tab on the website. For the meet you will miss, click on “meet entry” and it will ask you to declare if you’re swimmer will be there or not. YOU ONLY HAVE TO DO THIS IF THEY WILL NOT BE THERE. This process is just for those that know in advance. If your child gets sick the day of, please email/text/call me as soon as possible to let me know.

COACH JULIE'S CELL

If you do not have my cell number saved, please put it in your phone: 770-289-6626. Also, please remember that I do not have all of your numbers saved, so please tell me who you are when you text :)

Thanks!

Coach Julie
