Meet results and RSVP

Great job last night!  I know it wasn't ideal with how many the other team had, but we made it through.  The score was very lopsided, it's on the results report attached, but I'm not even going to put it here, haha.  Lots of results/details below.

In this email:

  • RSVP-next meet
  • Team rep/treasurer/etc.

VOLUNTEERING

I spoke with a few other small teams and asked how they get enough volunteers to run a meet.  They require their families to volunteer every meet.  We are going to have to switch to this.  There are 52 families on the team and 45 jobs needed to run a home meet (since there are 2 shifts).  If you have not signed up for next week, please do so...it really does make the time go by faster and make the meet more fun!

INITIAL RSVP FOR TUESDAY

Here are the swimmers who have said they are NOT swimming (or are juniors) next Tuesday. If your child is not listed and they will NOT be swimming, please go to mtps.swimtopia.com, click on "calendar" and then "meet entry" to add their name. Thanks! If a junior swims across the pool this week, we can enter them, they just have to do it at practice before Tuesday.

Ryan Fogel

Isaac and Sylvia Gunter

Cami and Dylan Johnson

Alexander Kotroczo (if he swims the length of the pool prior to the meet, we can enter him)

Hannah, Noah, and Shira Rosenbaum

PARENTS NEEDED

It became evident last night that we really need someone as our team rep.  I can't handle the parents/volunteers and coaching the kids at meets.  Many of you were so helpful last night, but I need to train whoever is going to take it on so you know what to do moving forward.  Best case scenario is that we get 2-3 people to share it.  We also need a treasurer to take over from Paige while we still have time for you to learn under her.

I hate to be negative, but if we don't get parents to take these jobs on ASAP, we will not have a team after this year.  It isn't sustainable to keep going the way we have had to so far this year.

MEET RESULTS

I saw so many things again to highlight last night. Our kids really care about each other and the team, and it really showed last night. I love that many of our swimmers were cheering for every kid that was in the pool, no matter what!  I heard more Wavemakers cheers than I've ever heard, and definitely more than the other team was cheering, even though they should have been WAY louder considering how many there were. My goal, and what I care more about than anything, is that we are improving, and we are!  Huge shout out to AJ Scalo, Will Bykat, and Alexander Leek who swam with the 13-14 boys age group (as 11-12 year olds) because we had no 13-14 boys at the meet. Also huge shout out to Emily Leek and Harlow Negelow who swam with the 15-18 relay as 9-10 year olds!

We had a lot of best times last night! I have attached the full results. Lots of kids swam things for the first time ever as well!  As we get faster, it is harder to drop a lot of time at once, but we still had a lot of huge drops (see below).

We first place finishers and a ton of huge drops. Below I have details for the biggest "loser" and first place finishes.

For every meet we choose a biggest "loser", meaning the person who drops or "loses" the most time.  Our 3 biggest losers of this meet are Maddox White who dropped 22 seconds in his 25 free, Shira Rosenbaum who also dropped 22 seconds in her 25 back, and James Holder who dropped 25 sec in 50 free and 31 sec in 100 IM!  Great job guys!

Other big "losers" (those who dropped 5 or more seconds) are listed below. Congrats to all!

Tatum Beach- 6 sec in 25 fly

William Beach- 6 sec in 50 back, 6 sec in 50 fly
