Reminder - meet tomorrow/deadline
Hey guys,
I know this is the first meet and I may not have communicated appropriately, so I wanted to email a reminder/explanation as I just had a few emails about not swimming tomorrow. The deadline to let me know if you are unable to attend the meet was last Friday. This is because I have to turn in our line up to the other team Sunday or Monday morning (depending on the team) and it takes 2-3 hours to put the line up together. It isn't just a trivial deadline. Individual events aren't as big of an issue to rearrange (though annoying), but relays are nearly impossible as kids are moved around to different age groups so that everyone gets to swim a relay (since we have to have 4 on each relay in order to swim).
I don't have to spend this time on the line up, some younger/more inexperienced coaches do their line up in an hour, but this is why they don't do as well in swim meets and their kids don't get to swim as many events. I want to put our kids in the best situation possible, which is why I put the time in, but it takes everyone communicating by the deadline. I'm hoping that this is just because it's the first meet and this explanation helps.
I don't mean to complain, and I know my time is my time and not everyone else's concern, but I've also seen many good coaches burn out from coaching because of this very thing, and I don't want to get to that point so I'm trying to communicate clearly now.
Thanks in advance for showing up tomorrow night if you are entered!
Julie
