Well that was an interesting first meet of the year...I promise they aren't all that rainy! Even with the rain, we had a ton of smiles and lots of kids very excited about their ribbons this morning! We lost 472-310, and I'm actually very pleased with this score given the number of year round swimmers they had on the other team. The league ranks teams based on size, record from the previous year, and a few other things.  You swim against teams a little above and below you, in your area.  This team swims us and 4 other teams that are well above us (like towards the top of the league), but having them on our schedule shows how well we did last year.

I know it wasn't the ideal 1st meet, but we got it in (and don't have to go back another night!).  Thank you all SO much for being patient, pitching in wherever needed, and getting all kids to their races!

If your child is not listed and they will NOT be swimming, please go to mtps.swimtopia.com, click on "calendar" and then "meet entry" to add their name by Friday. Thanks! MEET RESULTS

We have lots to shout out from last night. Even with the weather, 43% of our swims were improved times!  Huge shout out to Libby Homans for swimming EVERY event for 13-14 girls!  Another huge shout out to the 9-10 girls that swam up with the older kids for relays: Ada, Sophia, Maeve, Abby, and Grace!

Big congratulations to Sam Smeltzer and Jacob Robb for breaking team records! Sam broke his own 9-10 boys 50 free record with a time of 31.56! Jacob broke the 7-8 boys 100 IM record with a time of 1:37.41!

We had a lot of best times last night! I have attached the full results., thought some times are way off (like 3 minutes for a 50 free).  I will do my best to adjust them, but please know that ribbons are correct as far as what place they got! 

Lots of kids swam things for the first time ever as well! As we get faster, it is harder to drop a lot of time at once, but we still had a lot of huge drops (see below).  It is also very normal for the younger kids to add a lot of time at some meets, especially if they have camp all day, so if this applies to your kid, don't be discouraged!

For every meet we choose a biggest "loser", meaning the person who drops or "loses" the most time. Our biggest loser this week is Keira Stoffel who dropped 52 seconds in her 25 free!
