Read if going to Tech

Hi all,

We got our warm-up/arrival time as well as volunteers needed.  I have that plus all info for the meet below. Let me know if you have any questions.  We ask that all swimmers wear their team shirt (write your kid's name on the tag in case they leave it), and parents wear any Wavemakers merch that you have!  Thanks!  Psych sheet for our session linked here.

Please read everything as some is new info from last year!

WARMUP/ARRIVAL

Swimmers are supposed to enter as a team, so we will all meet outside the aquatic center (750 Ferst Dr, Atlanta) at 7:55 and all go in together, it is really important that you are on time! We'll meet near the sculpture that is outside on the grass. We'll take a group picture all together and then enter the building at the same time. Our swimmers will sit on deck, and we are assigned a bleacher (at the end of the boys pool). Parents will sit up in the stands unless volunteering.

VOLUNTEERS

We need 2 timers (in the boys pool) and 1 runner. I would like to split this in 2 shifts, and would love to have boys' parents be the timers as they can still watch their kid, and anyone for runner as long as you want to get your steps in (you'll be hanging results around the aquatic center). Please email me what you can cover (timer or runner and which shift you prefer, 1st or 2nd). 1st shift will be 8:45-10:45, 2nd shift will be 10:45-meet finish (probably around 12:30).

Timer - serves as backup to the automatic timing system. 2 timers per lane, 1 person uses stopwatch, 1 person pushes the "finish" button to stop the automatic system.

Runner - They will be stationed by the Hy Tek operator and will be responsible for posting results on the deck and upstairs, taking award labels to the awards room, and occasionally getting backup times for the timing operator.

SECURITY FOR SPECTATORS

New this year - all spectators will go through a metal detector upon entry to the building.  This may slightly delay entry.

SWIMTOPIA/MEET MOBILE APP

This meet is NOT run through Swimtopia as our normal meets are.  It is run through Hytek, and the app is called "Meet Mobile".  Please do NOT use the Swimtopia app to check any heats or lanes as they will not be correct.

Live Stream of Championship

We are happy to announce this year’s meet will be live streamed again. The link to the webcast is Championship Webcast Link, the link is also posted on the league website:

All info for the meet is also posted on the league website: https://asa.swimtopia.com/championship

EVENT ORDER

The meet starts at 9:30 with the 6&u free relays and all medley relays, then 6&under free, all free relays, 6&under back, and then the rest of the individual events for 7&up. There will be 2 pools going on at the same time. All girls will be in the pool to the right as you look from the stands and all boys will be in the other pool, closest to the scoreboard. There is a diagram on the league site if you want to see it: https://asa.swimtopia.com/championship

Parking-note from the league

Prepaid parking will be available in the W10 parking deck that is adjacent to the CRC. To park in this deck, you must prebuy a parking pass, you cannot pay at the gate. To prepurchase parking please visit https://gatech.parkmobile.io/events . Parking costs will be between $12-15. Overflow parking for W10 and any day of parking for those who did not prepay is located at the W02 lot at 355 Ferst Drive, this is the Student Center lot, a short walk from the pool. A map of the area can be found at Georgia Tech General Parking Map Please plan accordingly.

Please don’t park anywhere else, unless you want your car ticketed, booted or towed. Due to construction around campus please try to carpool to alleviate congestion. Teams, please be advised that barring a miracle, traffic is still bad in Atlanta. Please advise your swimmers and families to build in a little extra time to account for any delays.

STATE QUALIFYING

For those that are trying to qualify for the Sandy Springs state team, there could be kids trying to qualify during all sessions Wednesday through Friday. As an FYI, you will see “SP5” before/after all names in the meet that are trying to qualify for state (not just our session, but the whole meet).

CONCESSIONS

Large coolers are not allowed inside, but feel free to send a small cooler with your swimmer. Tech has done a better job recently at having concessions, but you never know.
