SEASON WRAP-UP
Normally I get to say all of this at the team party, but the weather didn't cooperate for that this year! With this being only our 3rd season in the Atlanta Swim Association league, I wanted to remind everyone that the better our team gets, the better the teams are that they put on our schedule. While we didn't get as many wins this year, we competed and held our own against really tough teams. This comes just 5 seasons after not winning 1 meet all season (for many years in a row) against not as hard teams as this year...really impressive! If you did not get your trophy or ribbons, as a reminder they will be on Kat Griffith's porch for you to pick up (120 Old Campus Ct). I have listed our award winners below, and if you are listed and didn't get yours, it is there as well...I have starred the names that didn't get theirs. We again thank our 15-18s and some 13-14s for giving up their trophy for some ties that we had in younger age groups. I have also attached all times from the season for each swimmer, minus the meet at Tech on Thursday as the league has the incorrect file on the website for me to import at the moment!

CONTINUING TO SWIM
A few of you have asked about year round swimming or how to keep going/learning. There are a few options that are pretty convenient to Sandy Springs, and I've put their info below. We have people on our team that swim or have swum for these teams, so if you have questions about a specific one, please let me know and I can put you in touch with them. We do not have anyone that does Chastain, but all others...it is a newer club, but I know the coaches at Chastain and they're great.

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET RESULTS-DIVISIONALS
We had 66 kids swim on Thursday at the divisional session of the meet! This was a lot more than last year, which was awesome. We came in 5th overall out of 26 teams (would have been 27, but Mountaire didn't send anyone)! We finished 5th last year as well, but there were more teams this year and we scored more points. :) We had 2 event winners as well! Leo Roden won the 50 fly and Sydney Smith won the 50 back!! At this meet, they split the teams up into a gold and silver group. They have an equation that takes into account points scored at Tech last year, dual meet record, and number of swimmers entered this year, and they give each team a score. They then split the teams based on that score. Last year we were silver, but this year we were gold! 11 of the 26 teams were gold, and our score was the second lowest (13.8) with Zaban being 13.6. Given that our score was on the lower side of the gold group, it is even more impressive that we beat over half of these teams! Just as an aside, all other teams from the old Sandy Springs league were in the silver division and placed 18-21 at the meet. I've attached the full results as well.
Our biggest loser of the meet was Violet Bell! Violet dropped 17 seconds in her 25 free!
Here are all who dropped 2+ seconds per race...pretty incredible at the end of the season!

RIBBONS/MEDALS FROM YESTERDAY
I will be at Mark Trail on Wednesday from about 10:45 to 11:00 (after my high school water polo practice). If you are able to come pick up ribbons/medals from finals, please do. After that, I will be at Spalding Woods pool every Monday and Wednesday from 9-10:30 for water polo practice for the month of July (minus 7/17), so you can pick them up there also. Please let me know if you are coming to Spalding Woods so I can bring them in that day. If none of that works, let me know and I can come one evening to meet people as well.

RESULTS FROM FINALS
We had 15 swimmers swim in finals, (up from 12 last year) and 12 of them swam individual races (up from 9 last year). We had 5 relays make it back (we had to scratch one), which is amazing! I have attached the full results, check out our kids, but look at some of the fastest times...truly incredible! The 10&unders swam first and 6 swimmers competed. They all swam individual events and did very well. Out of the 7 swims, 6 of them were faster than Thursday's times and 4 were personal bests! We had 9 swimmers in the 11&up group, and they swam their hearts out to get us in the top 50. We finished in 50th place out of 111 (112 if you count Mountaire who didn't send any swimmers to the meet). Only 108 scored points in finals, but 111 entered kids. We beat all of the other old Sandy Springs league teams by a lot too! Here are the results:
We didn't have a biggest "loser" of this meet, as everyone already started with very fast times. I do want to highlight Mary Claire Walker who dropped 9 seconds on Thursday in her 25 back to make finals and then dropped another second at finals! Many others went best times as well: Hunter Reese Giardino, Christopher Wood, Lauren Bell, Sydney Smith, Kate Zaparaniuk, Alex Agcaoili, Leo Roden, Ryan Fogel, and Evan Bell!
Top 20 score points at this meet (top 40 get ribbons). We had 5 top 10 finishes and an additional 4 top 20!!! Our best finish was Leo Roden finishing 3rd in both 50 free and 50 fly!! Here are all of the results...almost every kid moved up from their seed in at least 1 thing, with Lauren Bell moving the farthest from the 39th seed to 15th place! Great job to all!
9th: 11-12 girls' medley relay- Sydney, Saena, Kate, Lauren
