ASA CHAMPIONSHIP MEET INFO-PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE MEET

Here is the info that I sent on Friday again with the updates being first about volunteers and warm-ups.  Please let me know if you can volunteer, which shift, and which job you would like.  Thanks!

VOLUNTEERS-updated

We have been assigned 2 girls timers, 2 boys timers, and 1 awards worker.  The shifts will be 9-11 and 11 until the end of the meet.  Please email me if you can volunteer.  Thanks!

WARM-UPS-updated

We rotated to 1st warm-ups this year, ugh...at least we had last warm-ups last year, right?!  Please arrive at 7:15AM, plan for traffic.  We will warm-up and then write on kids' arms.  The good news is that we get to sit on deck again (it was our year to have to sit in the stands)!  When you arrive, we will have coaches waiting upstairs to walk kids down in groups.  If you don't see one of us, hang out in hall for a minute, and one of us will be there to gather the troops.

PRACTICES

As mentioned before, we will have Tuesday and Wednesday morning practice for the kids going to the meet, but the time will change slightly.  We will also have PM practice on Wednesday, but again the time will be different.

Mornings: all 10&unders (including 6&under) will be 9-10AM and all 11&ups will be 10-11 like normal.

Afternoon: everyone will practice 5:30-6:30

For those who make finals, we will have practice Friday morning.  Everyone will practice from 9-10, as it won’t be a huge number of kids since many are going out of town.

HOW DO WE KNOW WHO MAKES FINALS?

There will be a running list on the league website: atlantaswimming.org, and I will keep emailing updates as well.  We are the first session, but there are 5 sessions after ours, so we'll have to keep watching.  The top 20 relays make it back and the top 50 (10&under) individuals/top 40 (11&up) individuals.

MEET INFO

The meet starts at 9 with the 6&u free relays and all medley relays, then 6&under free, all free relays, 6&under back, and then the rest of the individual events for 7&up.  So 6&unders will be done earlier than the rest.  There will be 2 pools going on at the same time.  All girls will be in one pool and all boys will be in the other pool.  Here is the link from the league that has general meet info, a seating chart, map to the pool and surrounding area, and where the results will be posted: http://atlantaswimming.com/NASAChampionships . The site is down currently, but will be back up shortly.

Traffic during divisionals-note from the league

There is a great deal of construction going on around the Tech campus right now.  It will affect most routes to the side of campus where the pool is located.  Please plan your trip accordingly for your divisional session so you don't have to rush to get to your session.

ASA Championship Merchandise

ASA is proud to announce a new partnership with Fine Designs Apparel.  They will be providing ASA Championship t shirts and a much broader line of specially designed items for this year's big meet.  This will be a much broader offering than we have had in years past, so we hope you will support their offerings.  They have already set up an online shop for this year's meet, and you can get a look at all of the products they have to offer.  This is a great addition as it allows everyone on your team to purchase souvenirs from the meet, even if they can't make the big meet, or they can make purchases even after the meet.  Additionally, they will be on site during the meet as well.   Please share this link with your team members so they can view the full line of products.  The link for their store is http://store.finedesigns.com/w/vy/2017-asa-championship.html .

Parking

Parking at Georgia Tech is unfortunately not free.  If you would like to prepay for your parking and get your pass in advance, please visit the following link https://gatech.clickandpark.com/.  Please only buy the day you need and make sure you select the correct day (Day 1 is Wednesday, Day 2 is Thursday, Day 3 is Friday, Day 4 is Saturday), no one will need an All Day pass.  The cost for the advance passes is $12.00 (thanks to a service charge).  If you do not prepay for parking you will need cash to park, the cost is $15 at the gate.  Please be sure to share this info with your teams.  A map to the area around the Aquatic Center can be found at :https://cnp-assets-production.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/microsites/80/lotmap.png?1403144486.  There will also be signs around the venue that will point you in the direction of the lots for the meet.

STATE QUALIFYING

For those that are trying to qualify for the Sandy Springs state team (state meet is July 21-22), I have attached an info document that the state team mom sent and asked all of the coaches to pass on.  As an FYI, you will see “SP5” before all names in the meet that are trying to qualify for state (not just our session, but the whole meet).

Thanks!

Coach Julie
