Meet results and important notes
Hey guys,
Great meet last night! Thank you to everyone who pitched in to fill holes, help set up and clean up, etc. We came up short, losing 436-340. The other team had a lot of really good swimmers, and we were missing a lot of kids, so this was great to keep it as close as we did. For many that don't know how it works, the league ranks teams after each season based on record, team size, and team finish at the championship meet. Based on those rankings, you swim teams that are near you (above and below) in the rankings. Because we keep improving and doing so well, we continue to swim harder and harder teams. This is great competition for us, and I hope it continues! I did want to let you know that though, as I've heard some comments about the "new" teams we're swimming. :) There are more results below, after the reminders and RSVP!
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
PRACTICES
We know that there are a lot of camps going on this week, but we've had very low attendance at morning practices (10 total kids at the 7-10 year old practice yesterday). With only a week and a half until our last regular season meet (crazy!), please come to practice as often as possible...there are only 8 days of practice left before our last regular season meet! We would love to have some more kids learn strokes, flip turns, etc., but we need them to be there to teach them. With that being said, also if you can attend morning practice, we ask that you come then. We really need to leave afternoon practices for those that are in camps and cannot attend in the morning. For example, we had over 10 kids in the 7-10 year old practice in 1 lane on Monday night, and we just can't give them the attention they need with this many kids. We will continue to do our best with all age groups in the evening, but we are begging that if you can come in the morning that you do. Also, if you come in the morning, please don't come in the afternoon too...we just have too many people for this. Thanks!
ASA CHAMPIONSHIP MEET
The deadline to sign up is next week, June 20. We had 62 kids go in 2015 and 48 go last year, and I would love to beat both of those this year. So far I have 29 who have paid (still need forms for most). I know many more of you are going, so don't forget to turn in your things! The form is attached.
RSVP
As a reminder, I really need to know by the Friday before the meet if you will be missing the meet. I know illnesses come up, and that obviously can't be known in advance, but if you are going on vacation, please please please let me know if you won't be at the meet. We had people not show up and/or cancel less than 24 hours from the meet for every meet this year. Besides affecting me and the time it takes me to do the lineup, it really isn't fair to the other kids. I try to get as many kids in relays as I can, having kids swim up in age groups, etc. to make sure everyone gets as many relays as possible, so when you pull one swimmer out, it's truly a domino effect and others don't get to swim because of it. Thank you!
WHO IS MISSING NEXT WEEK?
Here is the initial RSVP list for next week (not including juniors), 6/20, at Mark Trail. Please RSVP on the site or email me with any changes by tomorrow (Thursday)
Jackson Cloud

THE BRANCHES MEET RESULTS
Again, great job last night! The full results are attached, please remember these times are for meters (so they look slower, but the pool is longer!). If you think there is an error, please let me know. There were so many kids cheering for each other, asking me who was swimming so they could cheer them on by name, helping each other out...it was great to see. The girls knew that they really needed to push it since we were missing so many boys, and they definitely did. The boys who were there swam their hearts out as well. Shout out to Evan Bell, Kevin Hopper, Connor Plumly, Derek Viersen, and Rees Viersen who swam in every event but 1...thank you! Nina Toole and Lauren Reece jumped in and swam with the boys an age group older than they are so that those boys could still swim their relay! And my favorite quote of the night was a 6&under girl explaining to me that the first person to touch the wall gets first place! She then went a best time by 9 seconds, so I think we need to explain to all the little ones what first place actually means!
Our biggest "loser" of the meet is Alexander Leek! Alexander dropped 22 seconds in his 25 free! And this was after being out of the pool for 2 weeks(until this past week) because he had his tonsils out! Great job Alexander!
Here are others who dropped 5+ seconds in an event. We had MANY more who dropped 1, 2, and 3 seconds as well. This list is still long for how far into the season we are! I do want to let people know that if their children are adding time, sometimes that happens when they are learning the strokes and changing their technique. We want them to learn to do the strokes correctly, and at first it may slow them down, so don't get nervous if you see that happening!
