SCHEDULE

We have normal practice all week this week and next week...crazy, right?!  Don't forget that Wednesday morning starts at 9 for all kids 10&under for ribbons and donuts.  Our meet is on Tuesday at The Branches (see notes below from The Branches), and please arrive by 4:45 for warm-ups.  Everyone is invited to CT Taqueria after the meet as usual!

VOLUNTEERS

We are looking really good for the meet on Tuesday, just need to fill a few slots: 1 timer 2nd shift, 7-8 girls and boys bullpen, 9&up bullpen, and 2 floater/relievers.  Here is the link to sing up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0948a4ab22a02-volunteer

NOTES FROM THE BRANCHES

The address is 1318 Winding Branch Circle, Dunwoody.  They have asked their families to park on the street to make room for us in the lot, but please do not drive over the bridge to the clubhouse.  Also, please stay off the brick pool deck as they will use this space to organize the kids before their races.

ASA CHAMPIONSHIP MEET

We will attend the ASA Championship Meet again this year (where we won a trophy the past 2 years!).  Here is how it works...to swim in the meet, it is $20 per swimmer (a great deal to get to swim at the Olympic pool at Georgia Tech!).  Swimmers get to swim in 2 individual events and 2 relays (just like a normal meet).  Our divisional championship (all the teams in our "region") is on Thursday, June 29, from 9AM-1PM.  The top 20 relays (new this year) and the top 50 individuals (10&under) and the top 40 (11&up) in each event make it to the Championship Final, which is on Saturday, July 1, 10:30-2 for 10&unders and 4-7:45 for 11&ups.  I'm hoping we have a large group go like we did the last 2 years! We had 48 attend last year, and I'd love to have even more!  I need your form (attached) and $20 by Tuesday, June 20 if you are going to attend the meet.  For those that want to participate in the state qualifying meet, we will use the divisional championship on Thursday, June 29, as the state qualifying meet.

Many of you already paid for this with your registration and are listed below.  I will just need your form by June 20.

SWIMMER'S EAR

At this time last year, we had a few swimmers get swimmers' ear, and I want to try to avoid it this year.  There are some things you can do to avoid getting swimmer's ear.  First, encourage your kids to dry their ears (the outside) when done swimming and tip their heads to the side to drain any water still in their ears.  There are drops that you can use to dry up any remaining water as well.  There are natural mixtures you can use (just google it) and also drops you can buy at the store.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Many have asked recently about private lessons so I wanted to send this info again:

Many of the assistant coaches teach private lessons during the summer.  Here is information for all of them that are offering it:

TEAM PARTY

I wanted to make sure everyone has the date on their calendar.  The team party is June 29 (night of the championship meet).  More details to come, but put it on your calendars now!

KIDS FOR KIDS MEET RESULTS

We had 20 swimmers attend this meet yesterday that raises money for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.  We only had 7 last year, so this is a huge jump up and a lot of money raised!  All swimmers did awesome!  We combined with Riverside to allow for more relay opportunities, and it could not have gone better.  All swimmers from both teams cheered for each other, swam together, and had a great experience.  We came in 3rd out of all 18 teams and 2nd out of the teams that were combined (multiple teams competing together as one)!  We have a trophy to share with Riverside that will be at the meet in a few weeks.  The results are below.  I haven't gotten the PDF of all results yet, but will send it out once I get it.

We had 6 individuals win an event!  Evan Bell won the 13-14 100 free, Coach Julie won the 31&over 50 breast, Sydney Smith won the 11-12 50 back, Natalie Tully won the 11-12 100 IM, Julie Wood won the 31&over 100 IM, and Kate Zaparaniuk won the 11-12 50 fly!  Congratulations to all!  We also had a ton of best times...everyone swam so well!  Combined with Riverside swimmers, we had great relays also.  We had 6 relays win their events: 11-12 girls medley (Sydney, Natalie), 11-12 girls free (Sydney, Natalie, Kate), 13-14 girls medley (Sarah, Lauren), 13-14 girls free (Sarah), 15-18 girls medley and free (Marin).  In addition, our 11-12 girls B medley relay (Kate, Saena, Kaitlyn) came in 2nd...only losing to our A relay!
