Read if you are going to ASA Divisionals at Georgia Tech

I am so excited for all of you to go to this meet and get to swim in the Georgia Tech pool!  I have a TON of information below.  I’m hoping to answer a lot of your questions with this email, but please let me know what questions you have!  The only action items for you are to buy your parking pass (if you want to save a few dollars) and to let me know if you can volunteer…we need at least 4 people.

PRACTICES

As mentioned before, we will have Tuesday morning practice for the kids going to the meet, but the time will change slightly.

Tuesday- all 10&unders (including 6&under) will be 9-10AM and all 11&ups will be 10-11 like normal.

For those who make finals, we will have practice Thursday and Friday mornings.  Everyone will practice from 9-10, as it won’t be a huge number of kids since many are going out of town.

MEET INFO

We will warm-up from 8:30-8:50AM (we got a good warm-up time!).  The meet starts at 9 with the 6&u free relays and all medley relays, then 6&under free, all free relays, 6&under back, and then the rest of the individual events for 7&up.  So 6&unders will be done earlier than the rest.  There will be 2 pools going on at the same time.  All girls will be in one pool and all boys will be in the other pool.  Here is a diagram of the facility, please note that the team will be seated in the stands this year (next year we’ll be on deck): click on the following link  GT Facility Diagram.  It covers all of the spectator seating areas, deck areas, and gives you a general idea about athlete flow around the facility and how athletes can access the bullpen areas.

PARKING

Unfortunately parking isn’t free at Tech, but there is convenient parking just across the street from the aquatic center.  Here is the email from the league about it…I recommend carpooling if you can!

If you would like to prepay for your parking and get your pass in advance, please visit the following link https://gatech.clickandpark.com/ .  Please only buy the day you need and make sure you select the correct day (Day 1 is Wednesday, Day 2 is Thursday, Day 3 is Friday, Day 4 is Saturday), no one will need an All Day pass.  The cost for the advance passes is $11.50 (thanks to a service charge).  If you do not prepay for parking you will need cash to park, the cost is $15 at the gate.  Please be sure to share this info with your teams.  A map to the area around the Aquatic Center can be found at :

https://cnp-assets-production.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/microsites/80/lotmap.png?1403144486  There will also be signs around the venue that will point you in the direction of the lots for the meet.

VOLUNTEERS

We have been assigned 4 volunteers this year.  1 award worker, 1 runner, 1 girls’ bullpen, 1 boys’ bullpen (description for each below).  I would like to split each job into 2 shifts.  Please let me know if you can volunteer and which job you would prefer.  Thanks in advance!

Runners - (Report to the timing and scoring room no later than 20 minutes before the start of your session) They will be stationed by the Hy Tek operator and will be responsible for posting results on the deck and upstairs, taking award labels to the awards room, and occasionally getting backup times for the timing operator.  Perfect for the person seeking 5 dots on their Fitbit.

Awards - (Report to the timing and scoring room at the start of your session)Stationed in the awards room off deck, they peel and stick labels on awards and put them in team boxes.  They are not tied to that awards room for the entire session and have the ability to walk on deck to watch their kids swim.

Bullpen Workers -(Report to the bullpen of the pool you are timing no later than the start of your session) They will work with our staging people to help like kids up in the staging areas and help transport swimmers to the blocks.

STATE QUALIFYING

For those that are trying to qualify for the Sandy Springs state team (state meet is July 22-23), I have attached an info document that the state team mom sent and asked all of the coaches to pass on.  As an FYI, you will see “SP5” before all names in the meet that are trying to qualify for state (not just our session, but the whole meet).

Thanks!

Coach Julie
