Practice Update
Hey guys,
We've had a great first 2 days of practice...and the water is only going to get warmer! I'm breaking my one email a week rule (and let's be honest, once meets start I definitely send 2-3 emails a week!), but I wanted to share these important reminders/announcements about practices.
TENNIS COURTS
Mark Trail is trying to keep the courts clean and ask that only those with proper footwear who are playing tennis be on the courts. Please keep your children off the courts unless they are playing tennis. If you have any questions, please let us know.
WEATHER
The weather forecast this time of year is always changing, and before we have storms hit, I wanted to let everyone know how it works with practice. First, we don't cancel practice in advance. If it is thundering/lightening at the time of practice or it starts during practice, we will clear the pool and pool deck and wait 30 minutes. At that point, we will either cancel practice or wait it out to see if we can get any practice in. We cancel each practice individually though. For example, if it thunders at 5:30 we would cancel the 6&under practice, but we would not cancel the later practices unless it continues into those practice times. If it is storming at noon, we will not cancel practice...this may seem obvious to many, but I always get emails. :)
COMMUNICATING WITH COACH
I know there are a lot of questions that people have, especially new parents and especially at the beginning of the season. I will always answer email (thought it may not be until the end of the work day as I can't always check my email while teaching). I am also happy to speak with you at practice, I just ask that you see me before or after practice and not during practice so I can focus on the kids. I went to a JROTC drill meet 2 weeks ago and felt what it is like for those that are attending swim team for the first time (I had no clue what was going on), so I am going to try my best to anticipate the questions that you will have and put them in my weekly emails, but I'm sure there will still be questions that you will have that aren't addressed in the team emails.
PARKING
I haven't heard any complaints yet, but I figured I would put this in now anyway. Please make sure you are parked in an actual parking spot OR if the parking lot is full, park on the side of the road that is opposite the houses next to the pool (the right side of the road when leaving the pool parking lot).
TONIGHT
I will be at our school's senior awards ceremony tonight, as I'm presenting the awards for my department. The assistant coaches have a plan from me for what to do at each practice and are excited to work with your kids. If you have any questions for me, you can email me or I will be there tomorrow.
Thanks!
Coach Julie
