I am so excited for all of you to go to this meet and get to swim in the Georgia Tech pool!  I have a TON of information below, including the list of who I have entered.  Please check this as a few of you mentioned today that your child would be able to go, and I want to make sure I’m not missing anyone. J  I wanted to give you all information that I have since this is a new experience for everyone.  I’m hoping to answer a lot of your questions with this email, but please let me know what questions you have!  The only action item for you guys is to make sure I know if you are doing state qualifying (see the “who is entered” section below).  We are up to 57 kids!

 

PRACTICES

As mentioned before, we will have Tuesday morning practice for the kids going to the meet, but the time will change slightly.  We will also have afternoon practice if there are people that can’t come in the morning.  If you could email me if you are going to attend PM practice on Tuesday, I will see how many we have and combine practices as much as possible.

 

Tuesday- all 10&unders (including 6&under) will be 9-10AM and all 11&ups will be 10-11 like normal.

 

For those who make finals, we will have practice Thursday and Friday mornings.  We will see how many that is and decide the time before we leave Tech on Wednesday.

 

MEET INFO

We will warm-up prior to the 2PM start time, but I won’t know until after tomorrow (not sure when).  We will be assigned a time though, and I will get that out as soon as I get it.  The meet starts at 2 with the 6&u free relays and all medley relays, then 6&under free, all free relays, 6&under back, and then the rest of the individual events for 7&up.  So 6&unders will be done earlier than the rest.  There will be 2 pools going on at the same time.  Girls 14&under will be in one pool and all boys/girls 15-18 will be in the other pool.  Here is a diagram of the facility, please note that the team will be seated in the stands this year (next year we’ll be on deck): click on the following link  GT Facility Diagram.  It covers all of the spectator seating areas, deck areas, and gives you a general idea about athlete flow around the facility and how athletes can access the bullpen areas. 

 

PARKING

Unfortunately parking isn’t free at Tech, but there is convenient parking just across the street from the aquatic center.  Here is the email from the league about it…I recommend carpooling if you can!

 

If you would like to prepay for your parking and get your pass in advance, please visit the following link https://gatech.clickandpark.com/ .  Please only buy the day you need and make sure you select the correct day (Day 1 is Wednesday, Day 2 is Thursday, Day 3 is Friday, Day 4 is Saturday, Day 5 is Sunday), no one will need an All Day pass.  The cost for the advance passes is $11.50 (thanks to a service charge).  If you do not prepay for parking you will need cash to park, the cost is $15 at the gate.  Please be sure to share this info with your teams.  A map to the area around the Aquatic Center can be found at :

VOLUNTEERS

I just found out that they assign jobs to teams.  I don’t know our job yet, but I’m hopeful that we can have a few parent split it, whatever it is…stay tuned.

 

WHO IS ENTERED

Here is the list I have of who I am entering.  Please check it carefully and make sure I have your child listed.  I have also put Y or N for if they are going to try to qualify for the Sandy Springs State Team (state meet July 24 (10&under)-25 (11&up) at Cumming Aquatic Center).  I left it blank for those that I am not sure about.  Please let me know by tomorrow (Friday) morning.  Wednesday’s meet is also the qualifying meet.  Also, 6&unders are not eligible for state…it starts at age 7.
