SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
We have normal practice this week unless noted below. We will also have clinics from 11:05-11:30 on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Monday- TIME CHANGE- We have the Atlanta Swim Academy clinic at Mark Trail, so 6&unders will practice from 8:30-9AM and 7-10's will practice from 9-10AM. 11&ups will have normal practice time.
Tuesday- Meet at 6 PM at Riverside, arrive by 4:45 to get written on before warm-ups. Riverside is a meters pool, which means it is slightly longer. Please remember this when you see your child's times at the meet as they will most likely appear to be slower times. The heat sheet will have converted times, so you can still tell if your child has beaten their previous best time. We will go to Willy's after the meet.
Wednesday- Fun practice, 9-10AM for 10&unders and 10-11AM for 11&up.
MEET DIRECTIONS
I sent this last week, but here is the blurb again from Kim Swartz about how to get to Riverside since there is road construction.
Riverside Drive is closed near the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road. North Harbor is also closed and can’t be used as a cut through. The best way to get to Riverside Club is to take River Valley Road to Riverside Drive, then make a right on Riverside. Although the signs say “Road Closed” and “Local Traffic Only,” the road is open between River Valley and the club (and a little past the club). The club is located at 6450 Riverside and has an ALTA flag wrapped around the mailbox. The club has about 60 parking spaces (give or take a few). The parking lot has a turn around at the end by the tennis courts. Parking is also available on Old Riverside (the road just past the club).
ASA CHAMPIONSHIPS
I've had a few questions about this meet, so I wanted to clarify what this is. On Wednesday, June 24, we have our divisional round from 2-6PM at Georgia Tech. This is with all teams from our area, and every swimmer can enter ($20 to swim). The top 3 teams at divisionals get a trophy, and the top 30 in each event get a medal or ribbon. They score all the way down to 24th place. You do NOT have to be able to go Sunday to participate on Wednesday. I think we have a really good chance to finish in the top 3, if not win, if we have a good number of kids go to the Wednesday meet. We are a really deep team and can really score a lot of point in this format. Sunday, June 28 is finals, and is the top 10 relays and top 50 (10&u)/40 (11&up) individuals out of the whole meet (all divisional sessions Wed-Sat). You can look at results from last year at this site (http://atlantaswimming.com/NASAResults.asp) to get an idea of what made it back to finals in 2014. Instead of a separate state qualifying meet this year, the divisionals round will be used for state qualifying. We are still looking for a coach and parent rep for the Sandy Springs team, but are hoping to have that settled this week.
You can enter through Wednesday this week by filling out the attached form and paying $20 by cash or check (made out to MTPS Wavemakers). Below is the list of people already entered. If you think you turned in your form and are not listed, please email me asap.
Clara B, Eli D, Robert F, William F, Harrison F, Ryan F, Hunter Reese G, Hannah L, Julia R, Natalie T, Kaitlyn W, Christopher W, Kate Z
For those entered already or who are going to enter, please go to this site and check out the info...especially the parking info: http://atlantaswimming.com/NASChampionships.asp.
SCHEDULE FOR END OF SEASON
Our last regular, dual meet is MONDAY, June 22, against Dunwoody Country Club. After this meet, there is only practice for those swimmers attending ASA Championships. We will have morning/evening practice Tuesday, the meet Wednesday, and then morning practice Thursday and Friday for those who make finals. Our team party is scheduled for Thursday, June 25--more details to come later this week.
