Meet results, announcements, next week
Hey guys,
Well it wasn't the perfect meet with the weather, but it was definitely exciting! Thank you so much for your patience with the weather. I hate to say anything negative about other teams, but I have to say that we definitely have the better parents on our team! We were missing soooo many swimmers (we only had 7 boys over the age of 10!), but we will won 318-251! I am so impressed that we won by 70 points given that we were missing all of those kids and didn't even swim any butterfly events or free relays! I am so proud of our kids for many reasons--for how they swam after a long wait, for their sportsmanship in congratulating the other team after races, for not complaining when they only got to swim 1 or 2 races due to relays having to be scratched or having the meet end before their race, and especially for being the kids who wanted to keep swimming when the other team wanted to end the meet! The other team had kids crying because they didn't want to swim anymore and our kids were "crying" (almost!) because they weren't going to get to swim anymore! My proudest coach moment!!

MEET RESULTS
Unfortunately I am STILL waiting for the results file from the other team. Since we use the home team's computer, I don't have it on mine. They sent me a file last night, so I assumed it was correct, but they accidentally sent the file from before the meet started! Anyway, I will send detailed results as soon as I get them (hopefully tonight).
DURING MEETS
I wanted to remind everyone of a few things. If you leave a meet before your child is done swimming, it is very important that you talk to me before you leave. We spent some time last night looking for kids for races when they had already left. It would greatly help us if you tell me you are taking your child (ideally everyone stays until they are finished swimming though!). Also, if you know you are going to take your child at a certain time whether they are done swimming or not, please let me know that in advance so I can try to enter them in the earliest events possible. Thanks so much for your cooperation!
EMAILING COACH JULIE
We found out this week that a few people emailed me to say they wouldn't be at the meet last night, and I never got the email. I will always respond to your email with at least "got it" so you know that I received the message. To make sure this doesn't happen again in the future, if you don't get a response from me, just send it again. Thanks!
ASA CHAMPIONSHIPS ENTRY EXTENSION
I found out today that the deadline for me to enter the kids has been extended, so we can extend our deadline also. The new deadline is next Wednesday, June 17, to enter into ASA Championships (please don't all wait until next Wednesday though!). Thanks to everyone who has already registered! I'm attaching the form again to this email if you need it. If we have a good number of our kids go, I think we have a chance to win the divisional round (the Wednesday, June 24 meet).
HOW TO GET TO RIVERSIDE
I first have to say that I can't wait for Tuesday! Our kids have been talking about this rematch since the first day of practice, and I'm excited to see what promises to be a VERY close meet. Thanks to Kim Swartz (Gabi and Tyler's mom and Riverside member) for writing this blurb about how to get to Riverside on Tuesday given the road construction:
Riverside Drive is closed near the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road. North Harbor is also closed and can’t be used as a cut through. The best way to get to Riverside Club is to take River Valley Road to Riverside Drive, then make a right on Riverside. Although the signs say “Road Closed” and “Local Traffic Only,” the road is open between River Valley and the club (and a little past the club). The club is located at 6450 Riverside and has an ALTA flag wrapped around the mailbox. The club has about 60 parking spaces (give or take a few). The parking lot has a turn around at the end by the tennis courts. Parking is also available on Old Riverside (the road just past the club).
