Practice reminders
Wavemakers:
Great to see so many of your on our first night of practice! Remember, all practices are held at Mark Trail Pool for the first two weeks. We had a few clarifications and reminders...please read all the way through as it's all important info:
1. Parking: As you can see, our swim team is growing! Please be mindful when parking and park in spaces in order to maximize the lot- there are certain areas which parking is NOT permitted.
a. Please do not park on the grassy sides to the left or right of the new culvert (this is near the small young cypress trees) . It was just restored at a cost of $7,000 and freshly landscaped . and we would hate for any of this to be compromised.
b. ONLY park on the north side (what is the north side?? Should we say, coming from the pool, park only on the right/left side?) of the street - we will try to put up signs tomorrow to designate- we have to be mindful of the neighborhood and allow for cars - and fire trucks/ambulances to pass safely down the street.
c. DO NOT park/block the fire hydrant: for safety reasons.
d. Park in designated spaces only - there is a second gravel lot (an extension lot) just behind the basketball goal - this was blocked Monday evening - causing more cars to have to use the street.
2. Speeding Please mind your speed- our pool is in the middle of a neighborhood- and we need to be respectful of neighbors and possible other children walking to swim team practice.
3. MOCK MEET date clarification - Mock Meet will be held Thursday May 29th, the previous email had the date correct, but the day wrong. All remaining meets are held on Tuesdays.
4. When should I talk to the coach if I have a question? While the coaches want to answer all questions that parents have, we ask that you please approach us before or after practice, and not while we are working with the swimmers. You can also email Coach Julie at any time ([email protected]).
5. JUNIORS Program Notes:
The juniors program is designed for young swimmers who cannot swim on their own just yet. Coach Julie will be talking with those that signed up as a junior and are ready for the regular team or vice versa. Anyone signed up as a junior can practice with the 6&under group if they are able to swim on their own for 5 yards or so. If you are unsure, you can bring your child this week and the coaches will let you know if they can continue or need to wait until school is out. Due to the high number of 6&Unders this year, we are unable to accommodate the true juniors until the summer, when there are more time options and less total swimmers in the pool. Starting on May 27, all juniors are welcome at every 6&under practice.
a. MOCK Meet: All 6&unders should plan to attend this mock meet. Coach Julie will talk to you individually if your child is not ready to participate.
b. Parents of juniors are NOT required to attend the May 22nd Volunteer Meeting, although it is recommended if you think your child will be able to move out of the junior group quickly.
c. Juniors parents are NOT required to volunteer at swim meets (unless the swimmer moves to the 6&unders team).
If your swimmer moves from juniors to the 6&unders, we may need help volunteering- this can be determined later, depending on your child.
Thanks, and see you tonight!
