Here are the different positions and duties for each.  A sign-up link will be coming soon!

A. STARTER

1). The Starter is an individual, provided by the Sandy Springs Swim Association (SSSA) at home meets, officiates the meet. He should be impartial to both teams.

2). The Starter is responsible for:

a). beginning events

b). disqualifying swimmers in accord with the rules (see IV. I DQ)

c). and helping the Head Judge with disputes on finishes

B.  VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

1).  The volunteer coordinator makes sure that all other volunteer positions with the team are filled and that the volunteers are trained, with the exception of the starter (provided by the Atlanta Swim Association).

C.  JUDGES

1). The Home Team provides the Head Judge and the Second Place Judge

2). The Visiting Team provides the First Place Judge and Third Place Judge

4). Judges:

a). records the order of finish on the Event Sheet for each Swimmer in each Heat in the order of their finish, paying no attention to whether a swimmer may be marked as an exhibition swimmer,

b). notes any disqualification (DQ) given from the Starter

c). gives the Event Sheet to the Runner to be taken to the Scorers

d). provides official UK Judges Sheet to Runner

D.  TIMERS

1).  2 timers, one from the home team and one from the visitors are needed per lane.  Both timers will have stopwatches, but one will be designated the head timer and will have a clip board with lane timer sheets.  Both timers time each heat.

2). The head timer has the following additional responsibilities:

          a).  write down both timers’ times for each heat

          b).  confirm the swimmer on the lane timer sheet is the one swimming in the corresponding heat by asking the swimmer’s name

          c).  hand the lane timer sheet to the runner who will take it to the Hy-Tek operators for recording

E.  HY-TEK MEET MANAGER OPERATOR

1). At home meets, the meet manager operator is responsible for running the software that sets up and runs the meets, records times of competitors, scores events, and scores the meets.

2). Specific responsibilities include:

a).  prints lane timer sheets, UK Judges Placing forms, and final heat sheets prior to the start of the meet; note, no scratches on heat sheets after 5:45 pm

b).  gives the Heat Sheet to the Head Judge, coaches of both teams, bull pen coordinator, and starter; the lane timer sheets to home parent coordinators, and UK Judges sheets to Judges

c).  records the times for each heat in Hy-Tek provided by the runners on the lane timer sheets

d). makes sure that the places for each heat match the Judges decision, and if necessary, overrides the placings based on time

e). prints ribbon labels and hands them to the ribbon clerks

f). monitors the scoring of the meet (automatically tallied by Hy-Tek).

F.  RIBBON CLERK

1). The Ribbon Clerk is responsible for completing the ribbons for the swimmers in every heat.

2). The Home and Visiting Teams both provide a Ribbon Clerk who writes ribbons for their own team.

3).  Ribbon clerks take the ribbon labels printed by the Hy-Tek operators and apply them to the ribbons, and then file them in the ribbon box for later distribution to the swimmers at practice

G. RUNNER

1). 3 runners (2 home, 1 visitor) alternate to get lane timer sheets from timers and UK Judges sheets from Judges to Hy-Tek operators in a timely manner

2).  One runner goes to each timer and the head Judge after the start of a race to pick up sheets from the previous heat

H.  BULL PEN COORDINATOR

1).  Bull pen coordinator sets up the bull pen at each meet, including areas for the swimmers to assemble, broken down by gender and age group

2).  Provide bull pen volunteers with clip boards, gender/age event reports, and sharpies

3).  Assist new bull pen coordinators or those with a large number of kids in their age group with writing events on arms of kids prior to the start of the meet

1. BULL PEN VOLUNTEERS

1).  12 volunteers write the events of their gender/age group (ie 7 & 8 girls) on the arms of the swimmer before warm up

2).  For the 6 & U, 7 & 8, and 9 & 10 boys or girls, the volunteers walk the kids to the starting block area for each event

J.  CONCESSIONS

1).  At home meets, the concession manager runs the concession booth, with help from 2 or more other volunteers
